What If? | Week 3
This weekend we close our WHAT IF? series. We have looked at the subject of sharing God’s love by looking out for others. Why is that sometimes a difficult thing to do? Yes, it’s inconvenient, but sometimes it is not a question of convenience. Sometimes, it is difficult because it is hard to give away something that you don’t have, like love. This weekend we will talk about the components of God’s love and how to respond to them.
What If? | Week 2
Last week we kicked off the series What If? The series started off with a question, "What if you started looking out for someone?" How would their life change? How would your life change? What if you took the DO NOT DISTURB sign off your heart and allowed others to inconvenience your life? How would that impact someone’s life? This weekend we will move from the Old Testament to the New Testament and see how you can stay motivated to live a life of love, even when it is inconvenient.
What If? | Week 1
Today we begin a new series titled WHAT IF? We will look at different accounts in the Bible and conclude with some WHAT IF questions that could lead us to make a monumental impact for God’s Kingdom work. Lives could change forever as a result of how we answer these WHAT IF questions. Please do not miss the beginning of this three-part series.
The Lord's Supper
This weekend we carve out some special time to commune with the Lord and with each other. The Lord’s Supper is always a special time and this weekend we will pause to remember why we observe this tradition. What are we supposed to remember and what difference does it make? Don’t miss this weekend as we designate this special time to remember.
Remembering Why
From time to time it can be energizing to revisit who God has called to us to be. This weekend we will get reacquainted with the purpose of First Baptist Maryville. Join us to get reacquainted and re-energized!
Re-Imagine
This weekend, before we start a new series, we are going to go back to the summer of 2019 and RE-IMAGINE. Do you remember the IMAGINE series from the summer of 2019? What has been happening in the life of our church family since that series? A lot! Join us as we recall the energy we shared together last year as we IMAGINED. Now, it is time to RE-IMAGINE.
Words | Week 8
This weekend we close out our summer series called WORDS. This has been a delightful series that has made us think and hopefully changed our vocabulary a bit. This weekend we will focus on Good Words. Don’t miss the finale.
Words | Week 7
This weekend we take a look at the power in our words. James points out that the tongue (our words) can bring massive destruction if we do not tame it. So how do you do that? Come listen and we will find the answer to that question.
Words | Week 6
This weekend we move to the book of James for our lesson on WORDS. We have been living in the Old Testament and learning wisdom lessons about our WORDS from Solomon and this weekend we move to the New Testament. Sunday’s message will be so practical you will be able to apply it the minute you walk out of church.
Words | Week 5
You probably remember the best words you have ever heard. They stick with us. In fact, if you remember correctly it was either some words of affirmation, encouragement or just some good news that is still good news. The writer of Proverbs tells us how life-giving words can shape the course of our lives. Come this Sunday and let’s learn what some of those words are so we can put them to use in our daily lives.
Words | Week 4
Have you ever been the subject of gossip? Have you ever gossiped? Gossip is one of the damaging uses of words today. There is something intoxicating about gossip. This weekend we will dive into some of the pictures the scriptures give us about gossip. Come ready to turn learning into living as we gain some practical steps in avoiding the traps of gossip.
Words | Week 3
Don't you just love GRACE! Grace is something every believer has experienced. We do not deserve it, but we get to experience through what Christ has done for us. This weekend let's talk about grace and how we can distribute to others.
Words | Week 2
Have you ever wished you would have used your words differently? This weekend we continue our series on WORDS and look at what it takes to avoid wrong turns with your words. If we can get this down, wow, what a difference it will make in our relationships.
Words | Week 1
Words are powerful. They can bring change, calm, or confusion. They can produce an accelerated heartbeat or a cold chill. Words can excite or depress. Therefore, how you use words and receive words is extremely important. We begin our summer series by talking about the different kinds of words we use and how they affect our lives and those around us.
The Sin of Racism
This weekend, Tom is joined by a friend of his to discuss difficult answers to recent events.
What Are We To Do?
We have been sheltering in place for about eleven weeks now. As a believer what are you supposed to do when you are sheltered in place. Believe it or not the Bible gives us several examples of God's followers that were sheltered in place. What did they do during those times? Let's talk about that in this message.
The Two Powerful "P's" | The Second Powerful "P"
Have you ever been in trouble? Have you ever been troubled? Trouble is not a fun subject, however, the believer is no stranger to troubled times. This weekend we finish our mini-series but talking about the second "P." This is an attribute that God honors and desires to develop in all of those who follow Him. In fact, this attribute demonstrates the authenticity of our faith.
The Two Powerful "P's" | The First Powerful "P"
Do you have any strong opinions about what we have all been going through the last 10 weeks? Have you voiced those opinions? Did that help? What do you need most in this current crisis? For the next two weekends we are going to talk about two attributes that will help us come through this changing season victoriously. Both attributes begin with the letter "P." Looking forward to unpacking these two so we can learn from God's Word what He is doing through this trying time.
Mother's Day
This weekend is Mother's Day and we will be focusing on some mothering tips that have stood the test of time. Before there were parenting books and workshops there was Susanna Wesley. She had 19 children. Ten of them lived into their adult years. Two of her sons, John and Charles were used of God to bring great blessing to all of England and much of America. The influence of their Mother, Susanna, shaped their lives to make an impact for God. Tune in this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and we will learn from God's Word and how Susanna Wesley put God's Word into practice in parenting her children.
Glorious Hope | Week 3
A crisis can lead to a lot of questions for God. Have you ever had a question for the Lord? Did you ever ask Him? Has He ever answered your question and you didn't like the answer so you said, "He never answered"? This weekend we will talk about going through dark times and how our faith can answer some of the questions we have for God.
