Reasons to Believe | Week 4
This weekend we continue our series on Believing, by considering a story that has many twists and turns. If you want to read ahead, look at John chapter 9. After you read it, you may have some questions. So, let’s get together at church this weekend and unwrap a treasure of truth. See you at church.
Reasons to Believe | Week 3
This weekend we continue our series on Reasons to Believe. We are finding many reasons to believe in Jesus as a result of this series. Perhaps you have a friend or two who a struggling with belief. Maybe you have been praying for them, but what they really need is an invitation. How about you invite someone to join you this weekend? You may be the channel God uses to help them BELIEVE. See you this weekend.
In Remembrance
What happens when we forget about God? In the Bible, we see how Israel forgot about Him repeatedly. But what about Christians? Do we ever forget about Him? This weekend, we will see how we might build up our faith so that we remember Him and enjoy His love.
Reasons to Believe | Week 2
What are you searching for? Peace? Prosperity? Recognition? From time to time we are all searching for something, and we often think, if I could have that thing, I would have everything I need. Is that really true? This weekend, we will unpack a character in the Bible who was on a search, but his search needs to be refined. Maybe yours does too. Let’s meet together this weekend and let God refine our search. See you at church!
Reasons to Believe | Week 1
Today we begin a new series called Reasons To Believe. We will explore several encounters of our Savior in the book of John. All this will lead us to Easter when Jesus encountered death and overcame the grave, for you and me. Please don’t miss the beginning of this series as we learn and strengthen our faith together. See you at church.
Without Love
Love. The word is used in many different ways today, e.g. I love my wife, I love candy bars, I love the mountains, I love the beach, I love my dog, etc. Sometimes the overuse of a word dilutes its meaning. Because LOVE is such an important word, this weekend we will unpack the true meaning of love. We will also consider how important it is for us to understand it, so we can practice it in our daily lives.
Pastor Tom Hufty - 10 Year Celebration Service
This weekend, we celebrated Pastor Tom's 10th anniversary as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Maryville. While we are continuously thankful for the impact he and Rhonda have made on our church family, this weekend we wanted to exemplify our gratitude. For ten years of remarkable teaching, for ten years of investing in each of us personally, for ten years of leading by example, and for ten years of serving us in ways we might never even recognize - we are overwhelmed with thankfulness. We presented Pastor Tom a gift full of many things he loves, including a FBM golf club cover, MCS sneakers, a gift card for Big Cedar Lodge, and lots of letters of appreciation from our church family! As an extra special gift, his children and grandchildren were able to join our services, speaking to the impact he has had on all of them, as well as the amazing ministry they have witnessed throughout their lives. Pastor Tom, we love you, we are thankful for you, and we are so glad to have you leading us closer to Christ.
Ultimate Authority | Finding Freedom Under God
Most people like to be in charge. Or at least the freedom to be in charge of their own life. With this freedom, we hold on to our own preferences and opinions as the highest truths. So with all this freedom we enjoy, why is there so much dysfunction and disunity? As hard as it is to hear, when we all do what is right in our own eyes it opens the door to doing what is wrong in God’s eyes. The Bible shows us that the most freedom we can find is under God’s authority and protection. This weekend we will see this clearly as we study the book of Judges with Pastor Nate.
Trust | Week 4
Week 4
How do you know when you can trust someone? If you have been betrayed, lied to or disappointed that someone did not live up to your expectations, you probably have built up some walls around you. This weekend we continue our series called, TRUST. We will take a close look at the doubts that all of us have and discover how we can know when we can trust someone. This sure is a lot to cover in one setting, but we will do it this weekend. See at church.
Trust | Week 3
Week 3
How do you handle conflict? Do you avoid it? Do you bury it? Do you drop hints or do you speak up and let your opinions be known regardless of feelings? This weekend we find our favorite character Abram facing some relational challenges that he has to confront. How do you think he will do on this part of the Trust Journey? Let’s see together, this weekend.
Trust | Week 2
Week 2
This weekend we continue our journey of trust. How has your level of trust been developing this week? This weekend, we find Abram in a difficult situation that will require him to make some critical decisions. Will he trust God, or something else? The plot thickens this weekend. See you are church.
Trust | Week 1
Week 1
Can pleasing God be summed up in one word? As believers we try to please Him in our thoughts, actions and involvements. But can pleasing Him be simplified? Yes. In a word, TRUST. This weekend we begin a new series on how to trust God, and what that looks like in your life. Can’t wait to get started? See you this weekend.
Family Worship Sunday
This weekend, we are having a special Family Worship Sunday! Whatever your age and whatever your family unit looks like - you are a part of our church family and we hope you will all join us on Sunday morning as Pastor Nate brings the Word.
The Big Reveal | Week 3
This weekend we conclude our Big Reveal series by looking at the opening words from the Gospel of John. Over the past few weeks we have seen how God reveals Himself through Creation and the Scriptures. This weekend we will look at how God reveals Himself through the perfection of His Son. When Jesus enters the world in a humble manger it dramatically shifts how God has revealed Himself. Let’s talk about that this weekend.
The Big Reveal | Week 2
Last weekend we learned that worship is not automatic, so God reveals Himself through His Creation everyday so we can appreciate who He is and what He does. This weekend, we look at a song written by David, the shepherd turned King. A man whom God loved and used to pen some of the most beautiful words of worship ever written. David was deeply impacted by how God revealed Himself. We will also hear from the apostle Paul and his perspective of how God reveals Himself through His Word. Can't wait to see you this weekend.
The Big Reveal | Week 1
This weekend we begin our Christmas series called The Big Reveal. In this series, we will talk about how God speaks and reveals Himself to man. We will explore three ways in which God has chosen to reveal Himself. In our first worship time together, we will focus on how God reveals Himself through Creation. Join us as we begin this journey of discovering more and more about our gracious, revealing God. See you this weekend.
Give Thanks
Would your life be better if you were surrounded by thankful people? This weekend is Thanksgiving Weekend. Even though Thanksgiving Day has passed, the attitude of thankfulness needs to endure. Traditionally, this weekend ushers in the beginning of the Christmas season, although for the past several years, our society starts Christmas promotion on November 1 and skips emphasizing Thanksgiving. This weekend we will pause, take a breath before our Christmas series, and remember the power of Thanksgiving. See you this weekend.
The Return | Week 2
This weekend, we continue and conclude our series on The Return. Last weekend, we introduced the state of the world preceding the return of Christ. This weekend, we will look at the sequence of events and how Jesus wants us to prepare for His return to earth. We will also be proclaiming the Lord’s redemptive work in our lives until He comes, through the observance of the Lord’s Supper. Looking forward to seeing you this weekend.
The Return | Week 1
The End Times! Are we there? Some would say, yes. Others would be indifferent and still others would say, “how can things get any worse?” What would you say? This weekend we begin a new series called The Return. With all that is happening in the world today it is time for us to revisit the prophecies and gain some understanding of what is going on, why it’s going on and what is to come. Looking forward to seeing you this weekend.
Missions Weekend | Trust the Journey
Join us this weekend for Missions Weekend! During Missions Weekend, we not only celebrate the ways we have already been active in missions, but we look forward to the future. This weekend, Pastor Paul will bring us our message and we will also hear from Lea, who serves in Kenya, and Ryan and Cayla, who we are sending to the Dominican Republic. Be on the lookout for ways you can get involved! See you this weekend!
