Baptism is an outward expression of an inward commitment. It serves as a visual symbol of a believer’s spiritual union with Jesus Christ.

When you go under the water, it represents dying to your old way of life and being buried with Jesus, as described in Romans 6. Coming up out of the water symbolizes being raised to a brand-new spiritual life through His resurrection.

We practice baptism by full immersion, lowering a person completely under the water and bringing them back up. This reflects the original Greek word for baptism (baptizo), which literally means to submerge or dip. It also follows the consistent pattern shown throughout the New Testament, including Jesus’ own baptism in the Jordan River and the early church examples recorded in the book of Acts.

While baptism itself does not save you, it is a meaningful and joyful step of obedience that publicly demonstrates your trust in Jesus.
