What will I do?

  • Greeters welcome and greet each donor and direct each donor to the appropriate next step.

  • Hosts gather data by helping the donor complete the Drop-off form, connect with the donor, affirm the donor for their investment in the life of a child, and offer to pray with them over requests and/or the boxes that they brought.

  • Unloaders help donors by unloading the boxes from donor's vehicles and organize and record the boxes as they are dropped off.

  • Cartonizers pack shoeboxes into cartons, count and label cartons, and tape the cartons shut.

As the date approaches we will have a short training to prepare you for your volunteer role.

What is Operation Christmas Child? Shoeboxes?
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. They ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.

Shoebox gifts demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. By partnering with the local church worldwide, each shoebox gift is a powerful tool for sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

What ministry is this through?
Since 1993, more than 100 million boys and girls in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan's Purse. Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Working with local churches and ministry partners to deliver the Operation Christmas Child gifts, Samaritan's Purse helps share the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ on a global level.
