A Word of Encouragement
Kindness is an action that communicates God’s love. We all have the opportunity to model kindness in our interactions with others. God’s Word says, “So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:10) We can show kindness in many different ways, including showing kindness through our actions, the words we say, putting others above ourselves, and forgiving one another. When we display kindness to others, we often see a ripple effect, as those we touch are inspired to pass that kindness along to others. God desires us to be kind not only to our friends and loved ones but even to our enemies. Jesus said, “Love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.” (Luke 6:35) Kindness produces amazing fruit both in our lives and in the lives of those around us. We can’t always control how people respond to us, but our actions are a direct reflection of God’s love. When we honor God through displaying kindness, we become examples of His grace, allowing others to see Him through us.

Get the Conversation Going
Take a moment to discuss these questions as a family:
• How do you show kindness to others? How do you feel when others show kindness to you?
• Is it always easy to show kindness to others? Why or why not?
• What are some ways we can show kindness to others as a family?

Gospel Connection
God demonstrates kindness by providing for our needs, showing mercy and forgiveness, and offering salvation through Jesus Christ. Even on the cross, He displayed kindness as He prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Jesus was selfless and kind to everyone, even though they didn’t deserve it. Through His kindness, God offers salvation to all - the ultimate expression of kindness and grace.
