Day 2 | Creation

Scripture: Genesis 1:26-31

God is the creator of all things. God made the world and everything in it: the air and the water, the plants and the fish, the animals and the people. The people were made in His image and were made to have fellowship with Him.

When God finished creating the world, it was perfect - the people were perfect too. Adam and Eve were to care for the world God made and walk in perfect fellowship with Him. They loved and trusted God and each other with their whole hearts, and they cared for the garden God had given them to live in.

Talk About:
• What must it have been like to completely trust God and care for the world He made?
• How can we show God we trust Him and continue to care for what He has made?

Prayer: Thank You, Creator God, for making our wonderful world and creating us in Your image.

Additional Scriptures:
John 1:1-3
Colossians 1:16

Age-Focused Discussion

Preschool
• Who created the world and everything in it?
• What are some things God made before He made people?
• What is your favorite thing that God has made?
• Who is God’s most special creation?

Elementary
God told people to take care of the earth and all the living things in it.
• What are some ways we can take care of God’s creation today?
• How are people different from animals or plants?
• What does it mean that God made people “in His Image”?

Middle and High School
Sometimes it’s hard to understand how God created everything.
• What does it mean to have “child-like faith” when we don’t have all the answers?
• Why is it important to trust that God’s Word is true, even when we don’t fully understand it?

Gospel Conversation
When we read about God creating the heavens and the earth, it’s important to remember that Jesus was there too. The story of Jesus doesn't start with His birth in the New Testament. Jesus has always existed. He is God, He made everything, and everything was made through Him. And Jesus loved His creation so much that He chose to rescue it when sin broke it.
